Mayor Gerbounka honors fallen at WTC

#Linden Mayor Richard Gerbounka

(Linden, NJ) – Mayor Gerbounka led a solemn ceremony to honor the fallen heroes of the WTC.

The Mayor unveiled a piece of the twisted steel that made up the WTC and that will remain in Linden as a token of appreciation for Linden’s service during the WTC rescue mission in 2001.

Mayor Gerbounka said the monument will be a permanent reminder that “we will never let this happen again.”

Many Linden parents who were present at the unveiling took the opportunity to teach their children about 9/11.

The twisted steel is an I-Beam from the remains of the WTC structure. The interactive exhibit and monument allows the visitors to touch it and feel it as they ponder on the events of that September 11, 2001.
