Linden refinery brewing

RefineryLinden

Linden, April 27, 2013 – There’s a boiling fight going over at the Linden refinery owned by Phillips 66 at the Bayway Circle in Linden, New Jersey.

It appears the company is trying to reduce its firehouse staff while claiming it is keeping the largest refinery in the East Coast safe.

Phillips 66 processes crude  oil at a rate of 2.0 million tons/annum & 238,000 bbl/day.

The union, TeamstersLocal 877, says the company wants to fill the void of the people it has fired with volunteers.

They said Phillips 66 has hired a lone firefighter to work full time to cover the night shift, and only seven full-time firefighters to fight fires should an incident occur at the refinery during the day.

The union is outraged and are asking the people of Linden and others to sign a petition http://www.usw.org/our_union/oil/news?id=0233  they hope will lead to changes.
