Linden, NJ  May 2013-  Fun-filled reading activities for children are planned for this summer at the Linden Library.

The goal of the programs is to connect the children to books and to they joy of reading.

Toddlers will be able to participate in the “Terrific Toddlers” reading program open to children seven-months up to four years old.  The children will be able to participate in story telling, music, and games on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

For the older children this year’s reading club theme is “Dig into Reading.”

The children will be reading about creatures and things found underground.

“Our new books will feature stories about things found underground such as dinosaurs, mummies, pirate treasures, gems, and plants,” said Dennis Purves, Linden Library Director.

The children are encouraged to read and complete the program.

“Those who complete the program will win prizes.

And they will be invited to the Celebration Party in August,” said Mr. Purves.

But hurry, the Summer Reading Club registration has already started and space is limited.  The children can sign up in the Children’s Room.  A parent or guardian must come in person to register each child (the child does not have to be present).

The reading program will be capped by music concerts at the beginning and at the close of the season.

To open the summer season a concert will be held on June 25th featuring Kurt Gallagher. The end of the season concert will be held August 6, and the performer will be announced at a later date.

All the programs are free of charge.
