Anibal Ramos Jr. out of mayoral race

Feb 13, 2014 –  Anibal Ramos, Jr. North Ward Councilman in the City of Newark has withdrawn from Newark’s Mayoral campaign and endorsed his opponent Shavar Jeffries, a former Assistant State Attorney General.BgTa0reCYAAm6Vp

At a press conference in Newark he said,  “This is the most difficult decision that I’ve had to make in my political career because serving all residents as mayor of this great city where I was born and raised has always been my dream.”

Ramos was rumored to be withdrawing from the race for days now.

It was inconceivable he would, but I guess he knows what he is doing.

From seven (7) initial contenders, the race for Mayor of Newark is now down to two:

  • South Ward councilman Ras Baraka, and
  • former assistant state Attorney General Shavar Jeffries.

Elections are in May 2014.
